Top 10 Most Popular Baby Names in 2004

WASHINGTON - Here is the list of the most popular baby names for 2004, based on applications for USA Social Security cards. Position on the list in 2003 appears in parentheses:

Girls:

For the ninth year in a row, Emma topped the list of popular baby girl names in America, according to the new 2004 statistics released by the Social Security Administration. Jacob is the top boy name, six years running. For the first time the names of twins were also tracked and the pairing of Jacob and Joshua was popular, as well as Taylor and Tyler, Matthew and Michael.
