Looks like Cecilia and Gillian are carrying on their normal lives after the big sex scandal...and we have not see Edison back in HK yet.

TVB held a fundraising variety show Help And Love <雪中送暖> this evening to raise money for the action aid project of the same name to help the victims of the snowstorm crisis in Mainland China.

Among the celebrities taking part in the event were Twins. Gillian Chung (鍾欣桐), who has earned herself the nickname of "Naive Gillian" (天真嬌) after her involvement in the recent sex photos scandal and her subsequent explanation for her actions as being "naive and foolish", became the focus of the media attention.

Although there had been over a hundred complaints from the public about the planned appearance of Gillian at the charity show, TVB decided to show their support for her and did not cancel their booking. The producers had also arranged for a group of Twins fans to sit in the live audience and support the duo during their performance. After joining the other stars in the main performance of the theme song "Bringing Warmth In Snow" <雪中送暖>, they also performed "Six Years Of Love" <相愛六年> as their fans showed their applause and encouragement from the audience.

After their item, Twins did not stick around nor answer any of the reporters' questions because they were rushed off to the EEG New Year celebrations.

The show's producer Wai Sai Fai (衛世輝) was asked about the change to Twins' song from the originally planned "Connected Relationships" <連帶關係> and he said that this was made at their request. He also said that although there were more Twins fans in the audience than any other group of fans, but this was made in arrangement with each of the singers' fan clubs and was fair.

During the ensemble performance, Alan Tam (譚詠麟) seemed to keep passing the microphone over to Gillian, who was stood beside him on the stage. He explained that this was to show his support for her and he denied that she was wearing a frown all evening, saying she was very brave and strong.

TVB Executive Chairman Sir Run Run Shaw (邵逸夫) led the donations for the evening by pledging HK$1 million and he was joined by other noted philanthropists including Mr Timothy Fok (霍震霆) who donated HK$5 million on behalf of his family business and also Peter Lam (林建嶽), Pansy Ho (何超瓊), Albert Yeung (楊受成) and Joseph Lau (劉鑾雄), who all also donated HK$1 million towards the fund.

The artistes and singers at the event, including Raymond Lam (林峯), Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) and the cast of TVB sitcom Best Selling Secrets <同事三分親>, all gave up their time to take part in the performance and encouraged the viewers at home to phone in and pledge their donations to the worthy cause.

Edison Chen, a popular singer, actor and TV host in Asia, was hoping American audiences would discover him when Christopher Nolan’s newest installment in the Batman series, “The Dark Knight” is released in the United States sometime later this year.

Instead, Americans are getting their first taste of this young Hong Kong actor via one of the largest sex scandals to hit the Hong Kong/Chinese film scene in recent memory.

The scandal, now known as the “Edison Chen Incident,” exploded when digital photographs showing Chen apparently performing sexual acts with other Hong Kong celebrities, Bobo Chan and Gillian Chung, turned up on prominent Hong Kong Internet bulletin boards systems (BBS) and celebrity blogs.

The episode not only raises important questions about privacy and censorship, it is arguably the former British colony’s biggest scandal in years and has secured a place on newspaper front pages every day since it broke a couple of weeks ago.

Laptop repair gone wrong
In the days after the release of the photos, Hong Kong police investigating the case tracked the source of the photos to a computer service center where Chen had taken his laptop for repairs. Police arrested eight employees of the service center in connection with the photo release since the discovery, and announced that they believed over 1,300 racy photos of celebrities had been stolen.

In places like Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China, where the hunger for celebrity news is ravenous and invasive, the daily leak of new images has kept the story on the tabloids’ front pages, alongside breathless updates on the stars and ongoing legal proceedings.

While the tabloid buzz has currently settled on the stars already exposed in the photos, much of the discussion on Chinese and Hong Kong blogs has been speculation over which other actresses and musicians will be implicated. Rumors of a tawdry video showing Chen’s onetime girlfriend, Maggie Q., who Americans may know from Mission Impossible III, Live Free or Die Hard, has kept hundreds of thousands of Chinese netizens glued to online forums and chat sites waiting for updates.

Police handling and privacy rights
Outside of the realm of the gossip reporting, an interesting debate over Internet rights and the Hong Kong police’s handling of the scandal has emerged. Concerns over the police’s ability to deal with cyber crimes first arose when they were forced to make an embarrassing retraction after new photos mysteriously appeared on Feb. 7 – a day after the police had confidently announced that the probable source of the leak had been caught.

Furthermore, the police have been under fire from both Hong Kong civil liberties groups and legislators after Commissioner of Police Tang King-Shing declared, incorrectly, that even the mere possession of the tawdry photos could be illegal and grounds for arrest.

Shing’s words proved to be inflammatory as netizens nervously wondered whether the police would indeed arrest or punish the tens of thousands of people who had already downloaded or seen the images.

Shing’s interview even sparked an angry protest led by prominent Hong Kong lawmaker and activist “Long Hair” Leung Kwok-Hung outside of police headquarters in Wan Chai. The protestors accused the police commissioner of fear-mongering and demanded he clarify his statements.

The seeming ham-handed handling of the case has left the police on the defensive as they now find themselves having to allay public fears about privacy and a perception of selectiveness in investigating high-profile Internet pornography cases more rigorously than others.

The latter problem can be fixed in the short-term through a recommitment to investigating and prosecuting cyber crimes. However, concerns over privacy and government regulation of the Internet will certainly, for better or for worse, draw eerie comparisons to the regulations that currently rule just across the border in mainland China.

Star’s image battered
Meanwhile, Chen, who had developed a large teenage girl fan base in Asia through his singing and acting roles, now finds himself at the center of a nasty public backlash against his carefully cultivated image.

There has been a growing public perception both in the local blogs and many public forums that whether or not these images were made consensually, Chen took advantage of the girls he appeared with.

While he has since issued a public statement via a YouTube video posted on his website (Chen has been in Canada since the scandal broke), it would seem that the damage has already been done. Since the images were leaked, Chen has been dumped from what was to be a soon to be released Stephen Chow (Kung-Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) film.

While the Hong Kong glitterati have had their fair share of sex scandals, none of them compare in terms of the speed and voraciousness of coverage. It will be interesting to see if Chen can ride out the negative publicity engulfing him, and whether he can parlay it to jumpstart an ailing career, a la U.S. celebrities Paris Hilton and Tommie Lee who were caught in similarly compromising positions.

The media revealed yesterday that Edison Chen had been actually proposing to Vincy Yeung all this while in Boston that they should get married, not once but at least four times.

He hoped to use the marriage as a base to turn over a new leaf and even sought to threatening slitting his wrists to “force” Vincy to accept. But following discussions with her family, Vincy rejected his proposal firmly.

It’s believed that instead of flying back to Hong Kong today, he has gone to Vancouver, Canada to help his mother move to another place (avoid the media glare) and also take temporary refuge for some relief.

There are many rumours flying around as to how Edison Chen is returning to Hong Kong or whether is he in Hong Kong already.

But according to the latest news report from Netease.com after contacting East Asia Music today, it’s understood that Edison Chen’s scheduled return to Hong Kong tomorrow.

His subsequent press conference has been cancelled, no reason given.

Edison Chen was supposed to give a press conference tomorrow to address the public about the recent sex photos scandal.

He was also due to report at the Wanchai Police Station to record his statement and provide useful information. But that is all up in smoke now judging from this turn of events. East Asia Music expressed that when Edison does return, they will contact the media so that they can “welcome” him back.

Now what has led to Edison Chen sudden cancellation of his scheduled return? Maybe he chickened out on the possibility that he might be taken out by the triads (Albert Yeung alleged links) once he returns while the police are also after him. So maybe he wants to make his return to Hong Kong in a quiet manner.

Meanwhile on the other hand, Gillian has been involved in several polls where the netizens have voted against seeing her on television. They have branded her statement childish and are up in arms to prevent her from returning to work smoothly. There are rumours that Twins might be heading for a split.

A simple check of the photo showed that it was taken using a Sony DCR-PC100 on 30th July 2001. The date matches with what Rachel said in an earlier interview about intimate photos she had taken with Edison in the past.

The photos was posted on 香港高登 early yesterday morning. A poster by the name of 牛腩3号 posted the photo asking the laptop model in the background of one of the photos. Netizens were shocked to find out that the photo was not seen before and the post was swiftly deleted. The forum admins have notified the police and believed that 牛腩3号 might lead them to “Kira”.

There was also links about a Maggie Q video released yesterday but that is definitely fake. A file, “CGX杨永晴视频” (Edison Chen Vincy Yeung video) was out today but that is also fake because the girl is definitely not Vincy.

Posted a conspiracy theory about “Kira” possibly disappearing for good yesterday. With new photos being leaked again, it does seem like “Kira” is not going to die that easily. So with that in mind, I shall post another conspiracy theory from batgwa.com about “Kira” just biding his time.

The photos were stolen a long time ago. At first Kira talked to Edison, asking for 5 million HK dollars, but it was not agreed upon. Edison was afraid he won’t be able to get back all the photos. He looked for Albert Yeung (EEG’s president) to him on the matter. Eventually, Kira released some information to the media, the magazines last year briefly mentioned this matter. However because of EEG’s influential power, magazines were afraid to show the photos nor pay Kira. Through the help of magazine’s editor, one of the three members from Kira’s group was found. He knew that whether he surrender the photos or not, he was doomed. He did not say anything while being questioned, and was eventually killed.

The other two then fled to Southeast Asia, and again try to extort EEG and Edison. Before the matter gained public attention, Edison already knew, because both parties could not agree on a price, this time Kira was asking more than 10 millions. Edison took a private car to Shenzhen, then to Macau, took a private plane from his dad’s friend to the United States, and look for Vincy Yeung to his cause. Albert Yeung thought he could handle the matter, but eventually it was still not solved. Kira decided to raise the price, and released the photos the night when Edison fled HK. Since that day, Kira has been raising his price every day. It is believed Kira is in Thailand and Indonesia, and Kira is a group of two, and the data has been uploaded to the United States.

Do not think you have seen the best of them all, why hasn’t C10 and Maggie Q’s photo been released yet? This is because Kira hasn’t gotten the right price, or because of safety reason, there isn’t a safe way for him to get paid.

Right now, both parties are fighting. The involvement of HK police has propelled the tension to its maximum. If Kira is sure he couldn’t get his money, there’s gonna be a monster upload, but not all. The reason is because there’s heavy involvement from other celebrities, including HK, China and Taiwan. If Kira wants to live longer than Edison, he would have to have something to protect himself from.

It is obvious Edison is heading for a a unnatural death.

Vincy’s 3 photos was a declaration of power to EEG, showing Kira has even better materials. This action forced EEG to come to the table, leaving the police behind. Bobo’s photos that were uploaded today were no longer of importance, since she was only a sacrifice in this whole matter. However, Vincy, C10 and Maggie Q, definitely will not be released today. Because this is Kira’s ultimate chip. And the most controversial material in Kira’s collection? I dare not say, because I don’t want to die before Edison does.

Malware distributors are using a fabricated sex scandal to push their wares, according to security researchers.

Symantec has found numerous fake blogs which refer to a 'home sex movie' made by Hong Kong film stars Edison Chen and Cecilia Cheung. The blogs are then advertised by spammed comments on forums.

Users are told that they will need to download a special ActiveX plug-in to view the video which does not, of course, exist. Instead of a browser plug-in, users receive a version of the Zlob Trojan.

The scheme is a new twist on the 'fake codec' scam, a social engineering attack in which users are told that they need to download new plug-ins and video translators in order to watch movie files.

The codecs turn out to be Trojan applications which install malware on the user's system.

Symantec researcher Silas Barnes said in a company blog that the best way to protect against the attack is through education.

"The use of fake ActiveX video objects and codecs is certainly not a new phenomenon, and has been used to target viewers of adult material," he wrote.

"Ensuring that you and your users are aware of the threats, and the way they operate, makes it more difficult for this kind of malicious activity to bear fruit for its creator."

Edison Chen sex photos scandal has entered Day 16, there were no pictures surfaced even though KIRA promised to post 3 videos 2 days earlier. Coolsmurf has speculated that the scandal has come to the final episode.

So it seems like “Kira” got his money and is going to have a good time enjoying it. The final straw for Albert Yeung must be the three photos of his niece, Vincy Yeung that got him really worried. “Kira” is unlikely to appear again since he got what he wanted, $$$. Now you know why Gillian smiled and Edison’s return to Hong Kong in the next few days. This is how the world works unfortunately. It will be interesting to hear him speak about this in details since his video message earlier on didn’t tell us much and was a disappointment.

And originally there were 3 people that were blackmailing Edison and EEG. The popular rumor is that EEG had caught up with one of the guys and took him/her out of the picture (think Mob hit), and the other two are in hiding in SE Asia (Thailand, Indonesia, and now supposetly North America). EEG didn’t want to pay, so, “Kira” have been escalating the price, to the point where pics of the neice of EEG’s chairman is released.

Another rumor regarding Maggie Q is that she was willing to pay for the blackmail, and hence no released pics of her.

And to spite Gillian, due to her acting as pure and innocent in her recent interview, “Kira” supposetly have released a full sex video with interesting conversation between Edison and Gillian. Personally, I’m trying to find that vid to hear it first hand, but the conversation pretty much tells you how messed up the HK movie industry is. Edison asked who was better in bed, Him, “Big brother”, or the Chairman. So Gillian Chung finally emerged to face the media and the public. She had to come out sooner or later because she does not want to give up her artist career and her company does not want to abandon a goose that lays golden eggs. She said that she was very naïve and very silly, but now she has grown up. In those few short sentences, she did not admit to any mistakes but she has practically admitted that the photographs were not the product of computer modification.

In truth, Gillian Chung had not been very naïve and she was not silly. Her image of an innocent little angel was posed. Two years ago, she cried publicly after the EasyFinder photos and said that she could not face up to young people who idolize her. Another time, she saw Cecilia Cheung and Nicholas Tse kissing and she said that she was disgusted and that she would never do that. She attended the organized by the City of David Cultural Centre and stated clearly that she opposed pre-marital sex. While she was saying those words in 2006, she was posing for those obscene photographs. In a comment left at Apple Daily, someone wrote: "We despise you not for your licentiousness, but for your hypocrisy."

This gets right to the point. In truth, Gillian Chung is not the only hypocrite. Her company Emperor Entertainment Group was also hypocritical. On the first obscene photographs appeared, EEG announced that these photographs were manufactured by "criminal elements" using "computer modification" and they filed a police report immediately. The Performance Artists Association was also hypocritical. During the EasyFinder episode, the Association was up at arms. In the face of these obscene photographs, the Association only said that "this was not just sad for the entertainment industry, but for all of the people of Hong Kong as well." The performance artists may be sad because they are afraid their own private affairs will also be revealed, but what has the majority of the people of Hong Kong got to be sad about? Why is there any need for the people of Hong Kong to be sad over the sorrows of a few individual entertainers?

The police were also hypocritical. Before the Obscene Articles Tribunal even made any classifications, the police arrested netizen Chung Yik-tin for posting one obscene photograph and remanded him without bail for eight weeks. This was clearly a case that the police was using to intimidate netizens from circulating the obscene photographs, but they claimed that Chung was involved in another fraud case. It is unprecedented for someone to be held without bail on two unrelated cases. This is the hypocrisy of law enforcement. Commissioner of Police Tang King-shing rendered an "interpretation of the law" when he claimed that possession of obscene photographs "with intent to distribute" is against the law. It was clear that the police wanted to intimidate people.

The hypocrisy of the police also showed up in that they knew that the obscene photographs originated from the computer of Edison Chen, but they still kept looking for the 'source' everywhere. Why not summon Edison Chen directly for interrogation and ask for an accounting to see if the photographs were taken secretly or with consent? To whom were the obscene photographs given to? How did it circulate to the outside? They knew where the source was but they didn't bother. Instead they went around arresting people all over the street. This showed that the police was unfair and hypocritical in enforcing the law.

Some of the media were also hypocritical. They raised the banner of morality. They condemned those who possess and view the obscene photographs. They even condemned the other media which reported on these obscene photographs for publishing edited versions. The exposure of the truth should be the duty of the media. It is especially important to expose the true faces of performance artists who pretend that they are morally upright or innocent little angles, so that the fans won't be fooled.

The storm over these obscene photographs revealed all sorts of hypocrisies. This may be the reason why "Kira" released more photographs each time that another hypocrisy was committed, including escalating the degree of obscenity. The storm over these obscene photographs tell us that some people think that they can do anything or tell any lies as long as they close the door and leave no material evidence (such as photographs).

What is hypocrisy? In law, this refers to acts or speeches that present a narrative that is inconsistent with the facts. Simply put, this refers to certain misleading or deceptive narratives. The series of hypocritical acts and speeches brought up by the obscene photographs lets people feel that Hong Kong has become a city of hypocrisy.

Fortunately, there are still some media that are awake and insistent on uncovering the truth. Fortunately, there are still the netizens, especially those who protested against the hypocritical police on the day before yesterday.

According to the police, Chen's "Cotton-candy Mac" computer was sent in for repairs, and an estimated 1,300 intimate photographs of Chen and numerous celebrities may have been accessed and copied by one or more of the shop's employees without consent. Chen's photographs were reportedly taken sometime between 2003 and 2005.

GILLIAN Chung, one of several prominent Hong Kong stars caught up in a nude photo scandal, yesterday apologized for the incident that has sparked arrests and a media frenzy.

Chung, 27, previously known for her squeaky-clean image, made her eagerly awaited statement before a mass of reporters and video cameras flanked by Charlene Choi, her singing partner in the female pop duo Twins.

"I admit that I was naive and very silly, but I've grown up now," Chung said, without explicitly saying she was in the photos.

"I want to thank my company, family and friends for their concern," she said in her first public comments since the nude images trickled onto the Internet a fortnight ago.

The photographs, which appear to show Chung naked in bed with male star Edison Chen, and suggestive images purportedly of around half a dozen other celebrities, including actress Cecilia Cheung, were recently posted online, provoking blanket tabloid coverage in celebrity-mad Hong Kong.

Edison Chen, 27, apologized last week in a video statement, and called the postings of the photographs "intentionally hurtful and malicious."

The scandal, which involved several local celebrities, has dominated Hong Kong headlines in the past two weeks. Other nude photos involved actress Cecilia Cheung and five other women.

Chung's management company, Emperor Entertainment Group, said yesterday it would not comment on the photos again. It earlier said the photos had been digitally altered.

Last week, Hong Kong police said officers had found the source of the photos, seizing more than 1,300 obscene pictures involving six women. A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case.

Chen, who reportedly left Hong Kong soon after the photos were leaked, also apologized in a video statement last week. He urged the public to delete the photos and not to forward them.

Yesterday at 10:45 GMT, the news desk received an email containing 12 images, purportedly of Gillian Chung (???) giving Edison Chen (???) oral sex, that had already surfaced the day before.

The email had the Simplified-Chinese subject heading "The innocent Gillian Chung" (????????), but did not contain any text except for a general email footer.

The batgwa.com email address that the message was sent to had never been publicly listed and had only ever been used for communication with other media companies.

Tang has just stated that possession = distribution, depending on his own opinion. The resulting maximum penalty is HKD 1,000,000 in fines and 3 yaers in prison. MOTOR vehicle assembler and distributor MBM Resources Bhd expects that Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd's (Perodua) latest compact car, Myvi, will be exported.

“Myvi will be exported, but the question is timing because local demand needs to be met first,” managing director Datuk Abdul Rahim Abdul Halim said after MBM's AGM in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

“The car would be exported either as completely-knocked-down or completely-built-up, depending on the target markets,” he said, without disclosing the markets being eyed.

Abdul Rahim said Myvi qualified for export because 80% of its components were sourced locally.

MBM, which has a 25% stake in Perodua, foresees a boost in group earnings for 2005 with the introduction of Myvi. “Looking at the first quarter of 2005 on a year-on-year basis, the Malaysian automotive industry saw 17% to 18% increase in sales,” he noted.

Myvi was jointly developed by Perodua's local engineers and their counterparts from Daihatsu Motor Co Ltd of Japan.

MBM's turnover for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2004 rose 4.8% to RM805.8mil from RM768.5mil the previous year. However, it’s pre-tax profit dropped 35.9% to RM72.6mil.

2NR: So, are you a Filipina born and raised in Los Angeles?

CM: Born and raised in the L.A. area, but I had to finish my senior year in Hawaii.

2NR: Can you speak your native tongue?

CM: Yeah, I just picked up Tagalog (One of the many Filipino languages) from my parents when I was growing up. It's funny, 'cause people don't expect me to understand it so I always catch them talking about me.

2NR: You can have fun doing that though, right?

CM: Yeah, I caught these two old Filipino guys talking about me while I was in line at this fast food restaurant and they were talking about my boobs in my language, thinking I didn't understand them. I stayed quiet just to hear what they were talking about and when I got my food I just said in Tagalog, "Thank you very much, have a nice day." And walked away. It felt good cause they felt stupid that I understood every word they said.

2NR: So I take it you get a lot of Filipino guys talking about your boobs? I, for one, am about to talk about them.

CM: Actually, you should see my sister: She's only 8 and has big boobs! She already wears a bra. When my girlfriends come over they're like, "Damn!" I think we get it from my mom, 'cause her boobs are humongous. I think it runs in the family.

2NR: Can I come over for dinner? J/K

CM: (Laughs) I don't think so. My dad is pretty strict about boys coming over. When I was seeing this guy my freshman year he would come over and my dad would do the 20 Questions routine. He would ask were he's from, who his parents are and all kinds of weird questions about him. I remember this one time my boyfriend came over to watch TV with me and my dad was in the other room. The funny thing is the two rooms didn't have a wall to separate them, just a couch facing the opposite direction that we were facing. We were sitting at a table behind the couch and every 5 minutes we would catch my dad peeking his head over the couch to look at what we were doing. I know my dad is just looking out for me, but I thought it was funny how he kept checking up on me. There was another time when my dad caught a boy in my room. We weren't doing anything but he got mad at him and told him to get out of my room.

2NR: So I take it your dad is the one that got you into the boxing thing? Do you take real boxing or is it that cardio-kickboxing thing?

CM: Oh, I do real boxing. I've heard that cardio-kickboxing over-extends your tendons so that kinda scared me off. I started getting into real boxing 'cause I watched it on TV and have always admired it. During my senior year, when I lived in Hawaii, I lived with my uncle. He was in the military so I used to go to his military base gym for free boxing lessons. From there I just continued to go and fell in love with it. I still haven't gotten into a ring with another girl but I want to. Most of the time I'm in the ring with my trainer so it's not really the real thing.

2NR: I guess you're ready to fight off the drunken sailors then, huh? Have you ever been exposed to alcohol?

CM: I don't know why, but for some reason the first time I had alcohol I got really itchy like I had a rash. After that experience I haven't had any hard liquor or alcohol in general. I remember it was called 151 and I guess you're supposed to take it in a shot glass. Well, I didn't know that so I was drinking it out of a cup and I think I had about half a bottle, which, I was told, was a lot. Now I just drink virgin Pina Coladas 'cause they have no alcohol and they're really good.

2NR: Well, that's a good way to never drink again. Maybe I should ask you that question when you hit the college scene. Are you planning on attending college and if so, where?

CM: I think my parents want me to go to Cal Poly, which would be cool, but I was thinking of San Diego State. I don't really know anybody there but it would be cool to live somewhere different. Cal Poly is closer to where I live and my mom has friends that went there and said it was a good school, but I really want to explore a different area. It would be cool just to make new friends.

2NR: San Diego is my hometown! I think you would like it because it's really close to Mexico and Pacific Beach and both of those are good places to party.

CM: Oh, I've been to Mexico. Remember when Hot Import Nights was at Del Mar? Well Del Mar is only about 20 to 30 minutes away from Mexico, so a few other girls and I went down the day after HINs. One of the girls got stuck down at the border crossing 'cause when the border patrol asked her what's her nationality she said, "Filipino." They held her for three hours and then let her go. I didn't know what to say either 'cause it was my first time down there, so when they asked me that question I said California. The guy said, "I didn't ask what state you're from." Then I realized I was supposed to say, "United States."

2NR: Damn, you're only 18 and you've already experienced a lot of action. So are there any last words you want to say?

CM: I'd just like to tell my parents and sister I love them and I hope they don't get mad when they read this. They don't know a lot about what I just said in this interview and I don't want them to get mad about it. Oh yeah, wassup to all my friends and team Hybrid.

Even at such a young age, Christine Mendoza has experienced life to the fullest. Being exposed to the import industry has made her well aware of what a dope-ass body and a face to kill for can do. Just wait until Ms. Mendoza starts participating in the college scene. Arne has created this cool sitemap file for Google to index your webpage more efficiently.

Google announced yesterday a new tool for webmasters. The Google Sitemaps! You can submit you sitemap to Google and allow them to find all your pages without crawling every link. You can read more about this cool feature at searchenginewatch.com.

I created a small php file which will do the generation of the sitemap in a Google compliant format for you. At the moment, only posts, home page and static pages are supported. If you have better knowledge of WordPress than me, feel free to modify the script and include category pages etc.

Every URL in the sitemap may have a priority which represents the page priority on your website. My script calculates the it on the number of comments. This should be ok for most blogs, maybe i will add the post date to priority generation later.

Try it !

Citing the example of a woman in Klang who was now a successful franchiser in the nasi lemak business, she said the entrepreneur began by selling the food from a stall.

But after watching her son surf the Internet, she became interested in IT, Khamsiyah said.

“She took the opportunity to learn and began marketing her nasi lemak via the Internet and making home deliveries,” she said yesterday when opening a seminar on “Women in ICT” at the Perak ICT Week 2005 at the Perak Techno Trade Centre in Bandar Meru Raya here.

Khamsiyah said the entrepreneur could continue working at home and look after her family as well because she was IT-savvy.

“Women must be quick to pick up the use of ICT so that they can balance their roles as mother and income contributor to the family,” she said.

Just bought a Perodua Kelisa

With all the rage on the Perodua MyVI, I brought my wife to the Sunway Perodua office last weekend and to the Section 14, PJ showroom to look at that car. It's a cool car with some neat features like foldable backseats, no key hole on front passenger door for security purpose and immobilizer for the engine. However mind you, the waiting period is 3-4 months for that car. It looks even better with 16 inch sport rims..

Nonetheless, I opted to buy my wife a Perodua Kelisa (section 14, pj ) despites the comments from other parties and even on the NET. Paid a RM 500 booking for a silver version that should come by end of June. Funnily the salesman, said the Kangaroo bar they have is only for front end of the car and does not include the back end one. So I guess I need to check out the potong shops for a FULL set.

Oh. There were lots of people also lining up for a test drive on the new MyVI. So head on over to the Section 14, PJ showroom that should open till 10pm today.

Pioneering Internet marketer, Corey Rudl, aged 34, died in an auto racing accident yesterday morning. As the founder and CEO of the Internet Marketing Center, Corey was credited with creating enormous wealth through lengthy action-orientated website marketing pitches. His writing style has been studied, copied and used by literally millions of other webmasters over the years. The Internet Marketing Center generated over $7.5M in revenues last year and Corey often claimed to have made over $40M worth of Internet sales in the course of his decade long career.

Corey was one of the legends of Internet marketing and was considered among the most influential webmasters of all time. His success is often cited as a reason many online marketers entered the field. Corey was the passenger in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT which veered off the track at the California Speedway and crashed into a safety barrier at over 100 mph. The driver, Miles Keaton was airlifted to Loma Linda University Hospital where he died about an hour after being admitted. Corey died at the scene of the accident.

There have been 22 cases of lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) reported in Canada in recent months, all in homosexual and bisexual men with high-risk sexual practices, according to a report published yesterday in the on-line edition of the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

In fact, the way LGV is spreading -- among men who have anonymous sex in bath houses (and the latest variation, encounters arranged via Internet chat groups) -- is eerily similar to the beginnings of the HIV-AIDS epidemic.

Unlike HIV-AIDS, however, LGV, a bacterial infection, is easily treatable with antibiotics. But the symptoms -- small painless lesions on the genitals and swollen glands -- are probably not familiar to most doctors. What's more, an infection with LGV increases the risk of contracting and spreading HIV-AIDS and hepatitis, partly because it creates sores, making it easier for viruses to enter the bloodstream. ||

Focus on the worm Mytob.DN, and the Trojans Gorgs.A and PGPCoder.A

Mytob.DN is a member of the well-known Mytob family of worms, responsible for several waves of attacks on computers worldwide. Mytob.DN is a worm with backdoor characteristics, which connects to a server remotely, waiting to receive commands from a malicious user to carry out certain actions on the affected computer. It also downloads another malware to the affected computer, detected by Panda Software as Faribot.A. Mytob.DN also modifies the infected computer's HOSTS file, preventing users from accessing web pages belonging to antivirus companies.

The worm spreads both by taking advantage of the LSASS vulnerability, which it tries to exploit by launching attacks to randomly generate IP addresses, as well as through the MSN Messenger messaging application, by using Faribot.A. Mytob.DN can also spread via email, in a message in English with various formats, sent to addresses that the worm obtains from the affected computer.

Gorgs.A is a Trojan with keylogger characteristics, that is, it logs the keystrokes entered by the affected user in the infected computer. Once installed on the system, the Trojan uses a series of resources to try to go unnoticed by users. Thus, on Windows 9x computers, Gorgs.A uses a function in order not to have its process displayed in the Task List, whereas on Windows 2000/XP computers the Trojan injects itself into the system process EXPLORER.EXE to hide its presence to the user. If the Trojan cannot take any of these actions, it will still run on the computer, although visibly to the user. Once run, the Trojan logs all the keystrokes entered by the user and saves them to a file. When this file reaches a certain size, it is sent by email to an address belonging to a Russian domain. As is usual with Trojans, Gorgs.A cannot spread by itself but needs to be distributed manually through other channels.

PGPCoder.A has started a new trend in computer malware, the so-called "ransom-ware", that is, malicious software whose purpose is to obtain money through extortion. In this particular case, the Trojan digitally encrypts files with certain extensions: DOC (Word documents), JPG (images), XLS (Excel spreadsheets), HTML (web pages), or the most common compression formats, ZIP and RAR. Then, PGPCoder.A creates a TXT file in every directory in which it has encrypted a file. This file includes an explanation of the Trojan's action and asks users for $200 for their files to be released, as well as giving them a contact email address. Finally, PGPCoder.A creates two keys in the Windows Registry: one to ensure it is run on every system startup, and the second to monitor the progress of the Trojan in the infected computer, counting the number of files that have been analyzed by the malicious code.

To prevent infection from this or other malicious code, Panda Software advises all users to keep their antivirus software up-to-date. Panda Software has already made the corresponding updates to detect and eliminate these malware specimens available to clients.

MADRID, May 25, 2005 - PandaLabs has recently reported the appearance of a type of malware that encrypts files on the infected computer and then asks for a fee in order to release these files. This is a new type of behavior, rarely seen until now, and to which the FBI in the United States are now alert.

The malware in question, Trj.PGPCoder.A, is a Trojan, and as is usual in these cases, cannot propagate by itself. Once installed on a computer, it creates two registry keys: one to ensure it is run on every system startup, and the second to monitor the progress of the Trojan in the infected computer, counting the number of files that have been analyzed by the malicious code.

Once it has been run, the Trojan embarks on its mission, which is to encrypt, using a digital encryption key, all the files it finds on computer drives with extensions corresponding to those listed in its code. These extensions include DOC (Microsoft Word documents), HTML (web pages), JPG (images), XLS (Microsoft Excel spreadsheets), ZIP and RAR (two common compressed file formats).

The blackmail is completed with the Trojan dropping a text file in each directory, with instructions to the victim of what to do. An email address is supplied through which users are supposed to request for their files to be released after paying a ransom of $200.

To prevent infection from Trj.PGPCoder.A or other malicious code, Panda Software advises all users to keep their antivirus software up-to-date. Panda Software has already made the corresponding updates to detect and eliminate this new malicious worm available to clients.

"We have to have good quality. You have to (take) responsibility, you have to make a good quality movie."

Formula One racing will change to a one-lap, one-session qualifying format from the European Grand Prix next weekend, the sport's ruling body announced on Monday.

Qualifying will take place on Saturday over a one-hour session, involving a single timed lap, the FIA said in a statement.

The controversial Sunday qualifying has been axed. Races so far this season have adopted an aggregate format with the grid decided by the times from Saturday and Sunday.

A little sexual banter in the workplace isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Sexualized encounters in some work situations actually can contribute to building camaraderie in a workforce, according to a study by a University of Washington-Bothell sociologist who examines sexual banter and power in the workplace.

The encounters can help create a sense of belonging and help people to have some control over their working conditions, says Kari Lerum, an assistant professor of sociology and interdisciplinary studies.

"Under the right conditions, sexual banter can help build camaraderie, and camaraderie is a positive thing for workers and the organization because if employees are happy and feel they belong they work harder and are more productive. This is not so much about sex, but about people being empowered and having ownership of their work life, " she says.

She says acceptable sexual tension and remarks are appropriate for some places of employment, such as a restaurant or nightclub. But that some type of behavior might be actionable, and employees can be fired, in an office type settings.

She stresses the importance of recognizing the boundaries of your workplace and knowing the difference between sexual banter and sexual harassment. Link

WAYNE, N.J. - A 21-year-old college business major living in this northern New Jersey community has proven a basic lesson of marketing: Sex sells. Courtney Van Dunk posted a bikini-clad picture of herself on eBay about two weeks ago, auctioning off space on her body for advertisers.

The auction ended Thursday with a winning bid from a New Jersey wine retailer offering $11,300 for a month's worth of advertising. Van Dunk, though, says the offer has been retracted, but she's confident that she's made contacts with enough companies to still earn some cash.

When she finds a buyer, Van Dunk plans to place temporary tattoos on her abdomen while she's at the beach, or on other body parts when she's at the mall, sporting events, amusement parks and other public places. Her butt and chest are off limits.

"I got the idea from a marketing class I had that did a short segment on body advertising," Van Dunk said. "I was wondering how advertising could get through to our TV-savvy generation, and I thought this would be an excellent way to do it."

Van Dunk says the first round of bidding drew inquiries from as far away as Zambia. The Web site halted that auction because she had links to other sites promoting her efforts, so Van Dunk then held a second auction, which lasted seven days.

Van Dunk credits moderate exercise and healthy eating for the fit figure that has earned worldwide interest.

"We never ate a lot of fast food or greasy things growing up. My mom is an excellent cook. I really owe a lot to my parents for that," Van Dunk said.

Mike DeWine (R-Ohio) on Friday fired a young staffer for "unacceptable use of Senate computers" after she posted her sex diaries on the Internet and raised a hubbub of speculation last week: Who is this wicked woman that calls herself "Washingtonienne"? Was she really bedding six different men or making it all up? And who is the married, high-level federal employee she claims paid her $400 for a lunch-hour tryst?

First off, her name is Jessica Cutler. She's 24, holds a bachelor's degree in international relations from Syracuse University, once aspired to be a journalist and says she is not ashamed in the least of her behavior. "Everything is true," Cutler told us in an interview. "It's so cliched. It's like, 'There's a slutty girl on the Hill?' There's millions of 'em," she said, laughing. "A lot of my friends are way worse than me."

On Tuesday, Cutler was suspended from a staff assistant's position that paid $25,000 a year. Without identifying Cutler by name, DeWine said in a statement Friday afternoon that she had used Senate "resources and work time to post unsuitable and offensive material to an Internet Web log." Cutler admits she did. And a few hours after being sacked, she happily accepted our invitation to explain why she bared her intimate encounters for the world to see.

"If you don't like or care about your job, what's the big deal?" she said, explaining that her blog was a time-saving substitute for e-mailing friends. "I am so over it."

Sipping a strawberry Nesquik, she expressed amusement that her explicit diaries gripped the imaginations of Hill staffers and Web surfers all week. "It's amazing to me that people have any interest in such a low-level sex scandal. If I were sleeping with a congressman, maybe, but I'm a nobody and the people I'm writing about are nobodies."

A former intern in Sen. Joe Lieberman's office, Cutler said she had worked in DeWine's office since late February, routing mail and occasionally taking constituent calls. I'm sure I am not the only one who makes money on the side this way: How can anybody live on $25K/year??" She seemed blase about having six regular partners, telling us: "You know, there's seven days a week."

One diary entry described a "married man who pays me for sex" as "chief of staff at one of the gov agencies, appointed by Bush." That man, she claimed, paid her $400 on Tuesday for sex, but she declined to provide his name to The Post, saying, "I'm not trying to ruin his life." (On her blog she identified all the men by initials.)

In the interview, she described the $400 payment as "more like a gift than it was paying for a service" and wouldn't say how much money she has made for sex. "I don't want the IRS banging down my door."

Slim and 5 feet 2, she primped herself for photos ("I have good cheekbones. . . . I have good teeth") and said she would probably move to New York to find work because of her notoriety in Washington. I just got an email stating that I won 2 million Euros. That means I can now retire and buy an island somewhere in the remote corners of the South China Sea. NOT !

I've read about this type of Lottery scams in the papers a few times already and I'm not an internet-virgin. So I don't fall for this type of scam so easily. My first taste of internet came when I was working as a shop assistant back in 1996 and Jaring had just launched their pioneer Internet dial-up service in Malaysia. So that shows how much I've seen/read on the NET. SHeesh.... This scammers can't even send decently formatted emails. Only a fool would get caught. See below for the email sample. | Probationers are trying to beat drug and alcohol tests by using a device that delivers a clean urinalysis test, officials said.

"The Whizzinator" looks like an athletic supporter that has a plastic penis attached to it and has a trigger that releases clean, stored urine.

Bexar County officials recently discovered the latest trend to beating the system when a probationer was caught wearing the device.

"He noticed something a little strange while he was patting him down," said Cynthia Bradley of the Bexar County Urinalysis Lab. "It was a bit bulky, a little bulkier than usual."

Bexar County Chief Probation Officer Caesar Garcia said the county averages 5,200 urinalysis tests a month that are a condition for probation.

A positive test usually means time in jail.

Garcia said a 23-year-old man was arrested Monday after he was found wearing the $150 device, which can be purchased on the Internet.

"We knew there was some problem," Garcia said, "and sure enough we examined him, and looked at him, and we did find he was wearing a Whizzinator." |

Citibank Introduces Investment Product To Help M'sian Investors

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- To assist Malaysian investors to further broaden their investment horizon, Citibank is introducing an investment product with OSK-UOB Unit Trust Management that provides local investors exposure to selected Asia Pacific stock markets.

In a statement here Wednesday, Citibank said that the product is an affordable, easy to understand and hassle free investment avenue that is available immediately.

Head of Citibank Branch Banking Products, Charles Sik, said that the move would reconnect Malaysians back into global financial markets and open up fresh opportunities and options.

"Citibank depositors and investors may benefit from the potential for improved returns at potentially lower risk, plus have more investment choices and value added which global expertise, research and innovation can bring," he said.

Industry analysts expect onshore (and offshore) financial institutions in Malaysia to begin introducing more alternative investment products to residents over the coming months.

A Citibank research of risk and return analysis of various Asian indices suggest that between 1991 to 2004, a diversified basket of Asia Pacific equities excluding Japan have provided more attractive returns at lower risk compared to fully invested in Malaysian equities.

According to Citigroup analysts, Asia Pacific equities also offer attractive valuations, positive earnings growth, rising free cash flow and among the highest dividend yields in the world.

It said that Asia Pacific region also provides great economic potential -- home to over two billion people, -- rich economic and natural resources with the world's two fastest growing economies namely China and India.

RALEIGH - Founder and Chairman of Dell, Inc. Michael Dell has given $99.5 million to Red Hat.

Billionaire Dell invested his own money in the Raleigh based Linux company.

The investment was made through MSD Capital L.P. in January 2004. Dell uses the investment firm to manage an estimated $10 billion of his wealth when investing in public companies, private investments and real estate.

While it could be a great endorsement for Red Hat, there is still speculation about whether Dell himself chose the company. MSD Capital's policy is not to discuss private investments.

Dell, Inc. does have a history of supporting Linux software. The company was one of the first to invest in Red Hat.

Dell is a 40-year old college dropout and a self-made billionaire. He created his wealth by building computers and selling directly to consumers. His current wealth is estimated at $16 billion by Forbes magazine.

Michael Vartan admits he didn’t sleep the night before his first day on the set of Monster-In-Law.

In this romantic comedy, Vartan plays Jennifer Lopez’s love interest and Jane Fonda’s son.

“Jennifer had had casting approval and she cast me, so that was in my favour, and I was pretty certain Jane Fonda didn’t even know who I was,” says the star of TV’s Alias.

“I wasn’t worried about me. I was worried they wouldn’t get along. They are two incredibly famous divas, so the odds were in favour of tension.”

Vartan, 36, says there was never a sign of rivalry or unrest.

“They were getting along famously, but instantly sensed how nervous I was and went out of their way to be nice to me and welcome me into the fold.”

Though he’d been acting for 11 years, Vartan’s first big film break came with 1999’s Never Been Kissed, where he played the school teacher with whom journalist Drew Barrymore falls in love.

“My doctor role in Monster-In-Law is the same guy, just six years later. I’ve really progressed in this film career thing.”

During his interviews for Never Been Kissed, Vartan felt he might not have a career in acting.

“I meant what I said. I wasn’t getting any film offers, but then Alias came along and changed all that.”

Vartan was raised in France by his father, but visited his mother who lived in L.A. each summer.

Austin City Limits celebrates 30 years on television this fall. It's still America's favorite place to see roots music from blues to rock, swing to country

Austin City Limits is a music program on American television. Although primarily known for featuring country music, performers from folk, jazz, bluegrass, blues, rock and roll and other genres have appeared on the program. The show is a staple of PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) television stations.

Since the show first aired in 1976 it has featured hundreds of different artists. Austin City Limits is American television's longest-running program featuring concert music.

The program is taped live by local PBS affiliate KLRU on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin, in Austin, Texas, the self-styled "Live Music Capital of the World," images of which are seen in the opening credits. The backdrop for the stage features a mock-up of the city skyline.

MADRID, May 6, 2005 - This week's report on viruses and intruders will focus on the worms Kedebe.C and Sober.V, the backdoor Trojan Bck/BotMail.C, and the adware application Adware/Topspyware.

Kedebe.C is a worm with backdoor characteristics whose main aim is to end the processes belonging to certain security tools, such as several antivirus programs and firewalls, among others. This leaves the affected computer vulnerable to attacks from other malware.

This worm is easy to detect as it displays a message on screen when it is run. Kedebe.C reaches computers in an email message with variable characteristics and installs itself in a system folder, and also inserts a series of keys in the Registry to ensure that it is run as a service when the computer starts up. As well as the actions described above, Kedebe.C modifies the HOSTS file on the affected computer in order to block access to the websites belonging to IT security companies.

Sober.V, which due to its rate of propagation and its threat level has reached orange alert status, is a worm that spreads via email in a message written in English or German with variable characteristics. The bait used by this worm is free tickets to the next soccer world cup.

Like the previous worm, Sober.V also displays a message on screen. It also copies itself to the Windows system directory and modifies entries in the Windows Registry in order to ensure that it is run whenever the system is started up. What's more, it collects email addresses from the affected computer and automatically sends itself to all those that do not belong to a predefined list of domains.

Bck/BotMail.C is a backdoor Trojan that acts as a proxy server, allowing files to be downloaded and run, commands to be executed and this malware to be updated. In order to do this, it opens a communications port in the affected computer. In order to carry out its actions, it modifies a large number of keys in the Windows Registry, ensuring that it is run whenever the system is started up. This malicious code cannot spread on its own and is carried by some worms, like SDBot.

At the end of this week, the adware program Adware/Topspyware appeared, which is designed to trick users into visiting a security software website where they can get a solution to disinfect this malware, after paying a certain fee. This malicious code has very clear symptoms. It displays an icon in the system tray, which imitates the Windows Update icon and displays a fake virus alert. What\'s more, it changes the color of the Windows desktop to bright red and includes a warning that the PC is infected. Both the icon and the desktop are links that, when accessed, take the user to a web page that offers several programs for disinfecting this variant, for a fee.

This adware cannot spread on its own, but is downloaded from malicious websites from where other types of malware are also downloaded.
